Enemy without

Brave men. Off to war.
Swore an allegiance with God.
Take up arms. Fight on.

Gunfire lights the sky.
The devil, he stalks the dying.
Takes their souls for free.

Fear surrounds the men.
They take up arms. Hearts pounding.
Pray. No god exists.

Tears roll down the cheeks.
Of grown men, waiting to die.
Waiting for their turn.

Breathe deeply. Slowly.
Stay calm. Enemy without.
Heeds no warning. None.

They fought hard, real hard.
Against the devil himself.
All hope lost. He won.

Death, it comes slowly.
Painstakingly; without haste.
Lingers on; screaming.

They fought to the end.
All dead. All gone. Except you.
Left you with nothing.

Grandad, he worked hard.
Saved from the horror of war.
Sadly, not the mines.

We are living in challenging times.
War threatens our way of life.
It threatens the lives of our children

Ut threatens the lives of our grandchildren.
It threatens the whole of humanity.
Our very existence.

I never stand still. I’m always looking for the next adventure; the next opportunity, and undeniably they come my way. I never give up; well not easily, and I strive to make the world a better place. Occasionally, I bring others along for the ride.

Why not join me?
