My Super Heroine. Who is She?
This piece has been written for the Converge Inspirational Writing Course with York St John University.
The assessment asks the writer to choose what they would like to see in a Superhero. I chose to use the words Super Heroine.
Title: My Super Heroine
Who is she?
She is strong; resilient, knows when to laugh and when to cry. When to hold back and when to let it all hang out. My Super Heroine has the power through her voice to influence; to make a difference. To change the world one minute; one hour; one day, at a time. She can look you in the eye and hold you to account. She can put you at ease with her smile. Tell you she loves you, and mean it.
She can see right through you if you are lying. Hear you from a thousand paces. She feels your hurt and when you hurt others. Her sidekick is the whole of womankind. And if on board; humankind.
Her antagonists are those who hate. Hate women. Hate humanity. Who bring about war. Who by their actions, maim and kill. Create widows and widowers; orphans. All crimes against humanity. And for what?
She wears the robes of compassion; of benevolence; of mercy. She lived then as she lives now. From the dawn of time she has wandered the land, seeking the human milk of kindness and wherever she finds it, she rests her weary head.
Her name: Elea. As beautiful as she is. Elea exudes compassion for humankind. Love for all children. Does what she can. The hate is strong; it threatens to overwhelm her. Still, she exists to create a better world, and when she pulls on the strength of womankind, her strength too grows.
But in all honesty. This is my mum. My real Super Heroine.
