The ...ist of the story
The antagonist tickles the ivories.
Strokes the egos.
Sets alight the touch paper.
The warmonger starts the war.
Takes by force.
Leaves others to pick up the mess.
Clear up the debris.
Heal the wounds.
The strategist plans the battles.
That help win the war.
The activist fights the fight.
The pessimist shakes their head.
All is lost; even before it begins.
Perhaps they are right.
The misogynist calls for women to be slaves.
In war it happens.
Rape is sanctioned by war criminals.
Used as a weapon.Its abhorrent.
The rapist, rapes the women, as well as the land.
Mother nature violated.
The pacifist withholds labour.
The optimist wins the war.
Or at least, that’s what they tell themselves.
The protagonist tells the stories.
Those that occurred yesterday.
Today. And those yet to emerge.
The revolutionist seeks to change the world for the better.
Their better not ours.
The theorist presumes to know why it all started.
Anti-war campaigners try to stop the carnage.
The Campanologist declares war is over.
The builders rebuild.
The storyteller keeps history alive.
Tells the narratives of those long since dead.
Etched on the pages of time.
The artist paints what they witness.
The tears that leave streaks ingrained in the faces of time.
The psychologist heals the mental scars; or at least tries.
The feminist drives the movement.
To make the world a better place.
To stop the wars.
They believe they can make a difference.
And they do.
