The mine sweepers of Filey

They had waited patiently
for their men to come home.
The women. Brave men;
the mine sweepers of World War I.

Stayed strong against Beelzebub.
The sea. The enemy.
Survived the war.
But were unable to cheat death.

Days later killed by a mine.
All dead. No bodies found.
The sea had come back for them.
Reclaimed their lives.

I never stand still. I’m always looking for the next adventure; the next opportunity, and undeniably they come my way. I never give up; well not easily, and I strive to make the world a better place. Occasionally, I bring others along for the ride.

Why not join me?
