What did you really lose?
Preamble
The impact of domestic violence across the globe is increasing at an alarming rate. The impact is evident. You won’t see it. It’s not reported on the news, not even if a woman is murdered and according to the Home Office between 2020 and 2022 there were 186 women murdered by their male partner or ex-partner in England and Wales. In comparison, 30 men were murdered by their female partner or ex-partner.
This means 1.8 women a week – or 8 a month – are killed by a current or ex-partner in England and Wales.
What did you really lose?
What did you really lose?
Your freedom? yes most definitely.
Your children? Yes.
The love of your family? likewise.
The love of her family?
Yes. Gone forever.
It was lost the day love changed places with hate.
But you didn’t care, did you?
Your children becoming collateral damage.
Blinded by hatred why? I don’t know.
And as you punched and you kicked.
As you spat and you cursed.
As you scared and tormented.
As you maimed.
And finally….,
You lost the love of a woman who once truly loved you.
You lost what it means to be a man.
You lost your self-respect.
You lost your freedom.
Do you like where you are?
Love replaced hate.
And you are truly hated.
For the woman you purported to love,
Lay’s in her box, one carved by you.
Arms folded across her chest.
What right did you have to take her life, what right?
May you have time to regret your actions that day.
May you have time to regret.
