Chapter 1
Introduction
I absolutely adore weddings. And if I ever decide to return to work it will be weddings I would like to be involved with. So, to get me on the way I am writing a book ‘Best Weddings by Design.’
Each chapter will feature in my book page also entitled Best Weddings by Design. Most of the images will be of our wedding in 2018, so if you were there you get a reminder of our beautiful day and if you weren’t, you get to see some of the photographs. They are absolutely amazing.
This is not a book to simply skim over, but an in-depth exploration of marriages and weddings. From traditional practices to lavish modern-day events, this book will take you on a journey of understanding and in some cases self-discovery. You learn a lot about yourself when you are planning a wedding.
Marriages are important. They are important to family and friends. They are important to the wider community and most importantly, they are important to you and your partner. A wedding is a significant event and celebrates the coming together of two people who have chosen to spend the rest of their lives together. It stands to reason that couples want to celebrate their wedding day the way they want to.
Your wedding can and should be unique to you and the person you are marrying. Weddings are a wonderful way to capture that very moment when you commit to each other. They are a start of a new journey, a new life together. Promises of new dawns, new horizons and of a new life. Weddings are amazingly special and the occasion should be memorable; for the right reasons.
Although there are certain legal responsibilities you must conform to, there is never any reason to have your wedding, other than the way you want. There is no need to fall in line with how others have planned their wedding before, or to be dragged into the make-believe world of social media. Spend a while collecting ideas, but don’t allow yourself to become swamped. Even those who have an infinite budget, can easily be overwhelmed. What you do should suit your style, your budget and your family. Trust in your ability to make your day, well……perfect.
There are also many books and blogs that help you decide when and how to plan for your big day. Take the time to read at least some of these. They could make all the difference, but don’t get too stressed. It should be an enjoyable experience; not a toil.
This book will share with you some of the various options you have available to you. It will share with you things you didn’t think possible. It will share with you the difference between a religious and a civil ceremony; a celebrant led wedding and a humanist.
